This week’s issue was supposed to be about the Oscars. How I consider Oscar night a holiday. How for years my loved ones knew not to call me or look for me on Oscar Sunday. Sorry, busy!
As usual, I planned my snacks based on some of this year’s Best Picture nominees.
Pork gyoza for Drive My Car.
Cornbread bites with black-eyed pea relish and pimento cheese for The Power of the Dog.
Arroz con leche for West Side Story.
Kettle corn for Nightmare Alley.
Irish potato bites for Belfast.
They were so good! Here’s a sample:
Much like last night’s nominees, I planned a night of Oscar celebration and movie love.
Then Will Smith happened.
So I’m going to just end this issue here and move on.
Thank you again for reading and feel free to share your favorite movies of the year in the comments!
I care about you. Please don’t forget to eat your greens.
Okay, so clearly I need to move closer so you can invite me for Oscar night. I have never in my life cared about Oscar night until now -- totally here for the food.
I enjoyed Dune, not convinced yet it deserved quite as many wins as it received.
I enjoyed Being the Ricardos, and Spiderman No Way Home, have started Don’t Look Up and Spencer both haven’t grabbed my attention, although Kristin Stewart did remind me of Diana. Haven’t seen the other movies yet.
I’m also looking forward to Belfast!
The Wisest Words Award should go to Denzel Washington “At your highest moment, be careful. That’s when the devil comes for you.”= #truth
