I love the picture of you and your mom! And your pigtails! 🥰

This was such a sweet story. I’m happy that you’ve been able to go back to JoAnn’s, and that you have your special aprons that your mom made you. Those little connections and memories are so special.

All of your photos made me smile! I know that feeling of wishing that you could make things...I am not too handy with any type of needle or sewing machine, but I wish I were. My grandmother tried to teach me to crochet at some point, but I never picked it up. I do, however, still have the Christmas apron she made me when I graduated from high school!

Such a precious photo of you and your mom! Heart-melt! Thank you for sharing! I remember being impressed how your mom made the curtains in our dorm room :-)

I too have always longed to learn to create through sewing, found out there are tailors in my family tree and my grandma taught me to hand sew to repair clothes so I believe I have the gene but haven’t made the time.

Was given a sewing machine to borrow about 4 years ago…too overwhelmed at the time to figure it out but just a couple weeks ago I made a JoAnn’a trip for one of those sewing patterns you talk about!! On my way prayerfully! More inspired thanks to your story.

And yay to Pesto in August since my basil plant is actually bountiful!

I love your purse! You’re adorable!

I too have so many memories of the fabric store. When we needed an outfit for any occasion, we went fabric shopping. ‘ Never occurred to us to go to any other store. -And we had the best clothes. I’m still not sure how she managed sewing for three girls. Lots of good memories.

Boy did this hit home! Our Mom sewed everything we ever wore-right down to slips( but not actual underwear 😬) We,too, spent so much time at the fabric store, I hope Deb remembers the name of it , I don’t think it was JoAnn’s but maybe…

I never sewed growing up but Deb sure did , as you know, and is an artist when it comes to quilting. I have come to it over the years but I’ll never be the seamstress Mom was. How lucky you are to have such good memories of your Mom.

Thanks for the memories ❤️

My mom sewed most of my clothes when I was little, and I remember looking through those pattern books thinking the drawn models always had such long legs! :) That photo of the two of you is priceless... I obviously didn't know your mom, but just from that picture I can tell there was such a strong resemblance between the two of you <3

Awe. I love that photo of you in your skirts! I sewed a lot of clothes and pillows and curtains after learning in home-ec, and things turned out - eventually. But I found it too frustrating. Later, after I moved into my house, I bought a fancy electronic sewing machine thinking maybe I'd do it again some day. It's still safely in the storage area - put back into it's container. My mom used it a few times when she visited and said - yeah...this is NOT easy to thread. And so there was more frustration and I never went back to it. I am convinced you either have the sewing gene or you don't. I don't, but was trying to fake it. LOL.
