Yes, I’m already talking about summer. I may be a bit premature, but frankly, spring 2023 has not been stellar.
Here in Florida, the daily storms of summer have started. Sometimes, I sleep right through them and don’t know they’ve stopped by except for the sopping wet rug on the lanai.
My cooking has already leaned into summer ingredients and meals. Dress rehearsals of colorful vegetables, favorite summer dishes, and nostalgia on a plate.
Homemade salsas, panzanella, and s’mores…
Meals like Mom used to make when you were sick or blue, flavors and foods from your hometown…
Along with these simple joys, I’m looking forward to curling up in my favorite chair with knitting and A/C and tennis and golf tournaments on the TV, learning how to play some new games, and sipping on homemade summer bevs.
I’ll be back next with this year’s summer food goals. Yes, I’ve been stewing over those already too.
