This was a beautiful piece, Kim. I love the bits of laughs (the tip jar!) sprinkled throughout what Iām sure was a tough post to write. I hope you had a wonderful, peaceful Thanksgiving š
Your best work to date, Kim... bravo for going there, big time šš
So many feels, cringes, and even smiles. Your details and memories blow me away every time, but especially in this piece. Sending you so much love, admiration, and gratitude this week and beyond š
When I started reading your latest blog, I thought Iād learn some new tricks for the kitchen or a few new recipes, although cooking, not my favorite. Instead Iām learning more about you and understanding a lot.
Kim, so poignant, so honest, and so real. Thank you for sharing your heart ... your reality ... your Thanksgiving memories. What I love is not just your courage to share your pain with others, especially others who can relate, BUT I love seeing how you've grown through the pain into a place of more peace. I am glad you did not set a place for dead or discomfort this year, rather you are allowing yourself a new Thanksgiving - one with delicious food and fun. Sending you tons of Thanksgiving love, peace and blessings!
While I don't love the pain that's reflected in this post, I know that many can relate to quite a few parts of it.
Do you remember our first Thanksgiving here in Nashville, in 1997? We were supposed to drive home together, and my car started pouring gasoline out of the giant hole in the fuel line the day before, and something was wrong with your car so we couldn't go. Because it was so late, we didn't have any ingredients and there were NO TURKEYS to be found at the grocery stores. We ended up roasting chicken and making stuffing for our mini Thanksgiving. That same weekend my parents had to put my very old childhood dog, 17.5 years by then, down that weekend, and my TV blew up and was smoking as I walked into my bedroom. It wasn't exactly thankful and happy either, but we had each other as best friends and made it through and I was and am always thankful for our friendship and our moving here together to start our new adventure! Hoping this year is a happy and thankful holiday for you!
Nailed it! I'm so glad you wrote this. I'm so glad I get to be your friend. And that's only the beginning of what I'm thankful for.....wishing you peace and ease on T-day and always, big love, xoxoxo
