Our tradition is usually carving pumpkins, (well, the guys do) while I bake cookies, but this year we decided to skip it for the time being. I think we'll still give it a go later in the week even though Halloween will be over!

Such cute photos! I admire the homemade costumes! I usually scavenged our closets to make up some like cowgirl Barbie or a Prom Girl Lol.

As an adult we started doing couples Halloween Parties, also went as Neo and Trinity! When my husband Sean was out of town I showed up as a Charlie’s Angel and he was Charlie on the phone. My go to costume is a vampire from a Twilight year, which I still wear for our new tradition and our kids future memory, of creating a Haunted House in our garage, it seems to be a big hit with lots of screams and laughter, only a few tears.

Like you Cheryl, I always buy the perfect pumpkin with full intention of carving since that was one of my favorite childhood memories…but end up setting up the plastic lightbulb one in front of them-to carve later for roasting the seeds.

We are sitting here, work out, enjoying our leftover candy, we handed out only our favorites, Kit Kat, Reese’s, jolly ranchers and with an added treat-some pumpkin pie.

Happy Halloween!🎃

We (ok, I) made the mistake of buying candy we like and opening it a week ahead of time. Just to make sure it was safe for the kids, obviously. So tonight, fresh stash on hand, I’ll run to the door to hand it out and admire all the kids’ costumes with my assistant, pupper Darcy, at my side. It’s a long way from my younger years when every year was an opportunity for a creatively built costume. My faves are Ms Pac Man and Ugly Betty — yes, I made braces! Maybe next year. Thanks for giving us the ok to swap our veggies for the candy, for today at least!

Fun!! I always have good intentions of carving a pumpkin, and I have done many in my day. In the last few years, I continue to buy a large pumpkin (the fat round kind - it has to be that shape!) and it sits on my porch steps as decoration, should I feel the need to carve - mostly just to get the seeds and roast them, because I love that snack! If I don't, it continues to stay as décor on the porch through Thanksgiving or whenever it begins to shrivel up. lol.

This year, I have wooden jack-o-lanterns with flicker lights that Mike made me and those are my new favorite! I never had a lot of creativity in costumes as a child....ghost - Casper with the plastic mask, and a sheet that would fit over my coat and multiple layers as you mentioned. I had a large box one year from something my parents bought and made my own costume when I was 10 as a box of Ghost-ios (like Cheerios) and I won a gift certificate at my school contest. I did enjoy trick-or-treating as a kid and got to go at least 3-4 times each year when I was young, my city, each of my grandparents' cities, and one weekend in October when camping with my mom's parents. Making caramel apples, eating powdered sugar donuts and drinking apple cider were always fun.

As an adult, I've been Cleopatra and a Mermaid, Amy when Mike was Sheldon, oh and a referee when Mike was the Dr. Pepper guy. I really just enjoy the Fall - crisp nights, leaves changing and the smell of a fire. Since our neighborhood doesn't have a huge amount of little kids, we still "buy candy just in case" - but the stuff we like (haha) and sit out with neighbors and the firepit, roast marshmallows, and just hang out in the Fall evening for the occasional trick-or-treater to show up (or our friends bringing by their kids to show us costumes.) So that's where we will be tonight. Bundled up, sitting by the fire, drinking a warm beverage, and "handing out candy." :-)

I just realized why they start selling Halloween candy so early. Most adults buy their favorite at the beginning of October and then it's gone and they have to buy more before Halloween! I did not fall prey to that concept this year. haha.
