A bit late commenting on this, but I just found your newsletter and I’m loving it so far! I, too, am a late-bloomer foodie and share your love for farmer’s markets. It sounds like you may have lived in Chicago at some point (so did I!); have you ever been to the farmer’s market in Oak Park? They have (or had, I’m assuming they still do) the most amazing cinnamon sugar doughnuts. I haven’t lived in Chicago for years and I still think about them!
Fun! Glad I could be your memory. :-) I've loved visiting and eating our way through all of the farmers markets we have together!! Ann Arbor, Ferry Building, Florida... all so fun!
So beautiful! I love the imagery created talking about your family, I felt like I was there! I so hope we can go to a farm market together one day, my friend! xo
I have the same memory issues lol… what a blessing that the memories of that experience with your grandpa sparked the passion that led to your passions today! You’ve inspired me to seek out the treasures of Farmers Markets also. I know I’ve visited some fun ones in my travels but can’t remember exactly where…when I do will be sure to share. Hope to experience more of them with you!
Oh, farmer’s markets! It could be my memory or that my family truly did not frequent them, but I don’t recall even discovering them until I was an adult when I would hear of friends going to them. I thought I was missing something, so decided to see what all the hubbub was about, & went and haven’t stopped going! Traveling around to find these gems & cook up something fresh & delicious sounds sublime 😋
I'm dribbling too. I miss farmer's markets so much. For years I got to get fresh veg at the end of farm driveways - corn-just-picked and the sweetest, juiciest melons....*sigh*. There are, allegedly, several farmer's markets in this town but the pandemic came shortly after we did. Maybe this summer.....

I’ve never really been to a farmer’s market - but it sounds amazing!
We should go to the Rialto market together one day!
